Privacy
Last updated: 1 May 2026.
Demigod's Guide is built to be private by default. The summary fits on a postcard: we don't collect your data, we don't track you, we don't have accounts, and we don't run analytics.
What we store
The only data Demigod's Guide stores about you lives on your own device, in your browser's LocalStorage. This includes:
- Your selected home base (e.g., the hotel you're staying at).
- The destinations you've starred ("favorites") for your trip.
- Your language preference and a flag for whether you've completed first-run setup.
You can clear all of this at any time from Settings → Clear local data.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no logins, no passwords.
- No analytics, no telemetry, no third-party trackers.
- No advertising, no advertising IDs, no behavioral profiling.
- No data shared with third parties.
Map tiles
The map view loads tiles from OpenStreetMap
(tile.openstreetmap.org). When you load the map page, your browser fetches tiles from their servers,
which means OSM may receive your IP address as part of normal HTTP requests. We have no relationship with OSM
beyond using their freely available tiles.
If you opt in to "Download offline map" during setup, we prefetch a small set of tiles around your home base (≈30 km radius) and cache them locally so the map works without a signal on your trip. The download is roughly 5–15 MB.
Email signup (optional)
If you submit your email via the "Get notified" form, your email address is sent to Buttondown, a privacy-respecting newsletter service based in the United States. See Buttondown's privacy policy. We use your email only to send occasional updates about new regions; you can unsubscribe with one click in any message.
Cookies
We do not set any cookies. Browser LocalStorage is used as described above; no cookies are written.
Children
Demigod's Guide is designed for families and is appropriate for children aged 7+. Because we don't collect any data and don't have accounts, there is no personal information being processed about any user — child or adult.
Future versions
We may add privacy-respecting analytics in V1.1 (no personal data, no IP storage; e.g., a self-hosted Plausible or similar). If we do, this page will be updated and announced in the in-app changelog before any data is collected.
